Life at Tamarack: Where the Mountain Meets the Lake

There are plenty of reasons people come to Tamarack Resort for the first time. The mountain might bring them in the winter, Lake Cascade in the summer, or perhaps it’s a round of golf with a view that makes it onto the itinerary. But what makes Tamarack particularly special is how much of that experience comes together in one place.

Located in Donnelly and just about 20 minutes south of McCall, Tamarack offers something that is difficult to replicate: a true four-season mountain lifestyle with skiing, golf, lake access, dining, recreation, and residences all within the resort. And after spending plenty of time there ourselves this summer, we can say that Tamarack in the warmer months deserves just as much attention as ski season.

A Summer on Lake Cascade

One of the most exciting additions this year was the expanded Tamarack Resort Marina on Lake Cascade.

Summer 2026 marked the debut of the new 100-slip marina, creating an even easier connection between the resort and the lake. The marina is open to the public as well as resort residents and offers seasonal slips, a fuel dock, a sandy beach, waterfront amenities, and an impressive lineup of rentals. And the rentals make getting on the water remarkably easy. Visitors can rent everything from pontoon and wake boats to jet skis, kayaks, paddle-boards, and e-foils directly through the marina. We spent quite a bit of time at the marina this summer, and it quickly became one of my favorite places to be. There’s something pretty wonderful about being able to head down to the water, rent a boat, spend the afternoon on Lake Cascade, and finish the day back at the resort. It makes the lake feel like a genuine extension of Tamarack rather than simply something beautiful you can see from the mountain.

Golf With a Pretty Incredible Backdrop

Then there’s Osprey Meadows Golf Course.

The Robert Trent Jones II-designed course winds through the mountain landscape with views toward Lake Cascade and the surrounding Valley County peaks. The reimagined Osprey Meadows Golf Course has added yet another dimension to summer at Tamarack, earning recognition as the #1 public golf course in Idaho. Even if golf isn't the reason you initially come to Tamarack, the course adds another dimension to owning or vacationing here. A summer day can genuinely include coffee in the Village, a morning round of golf, an afternoon on the lake, and dinner back at the resort. In winter, that same home base puts you minutes from the lifts. That's the four-season piece of Tamarack that is much easier to understand once you've actually spent time there.

And Then Winter Arrives

Of course, Tamarack is still a mountain resort at heart. The resort currently offers 1,610 skiable acres, 2,800 feet of vertical, seven lifts, and 57 named runs, along with Nordic skiing and other winter recreation. But skiing no longer tells the whole Tamarack story. The combination of winter recreation with Lake Cascade, Osprey Meadows, mountain biking, hiking, dining, events, and the Village has created a destination that has a reason to be enjoyed in every season. Tamarack itself describes the property as America's only ski, golf, and lake resort. For homeowners, that means the appeal of being here doesn't disappear when the snow does.

Tamarack Living, Just Outside McCall

Location is another part of the equation. Tamarack feels like its own mountain community, but McCall is only about 20 minutes north, giving owners convenient access to another of Idaho's most loved mountain towns. That proximity gives you options. Spend the day skiing or golfing at Tamarack. Head into McCall for dinner or shopping. Enjoy Lake Cascade from the marina one weekend and Payette Lake the next. For someone considering a second home or full-time mountain property, it's a pretty compelling combination: resort amenities at home without giving up easy access to the broader McCall and Long Valley community.
